What a Ride!

Now that Wingless is out I can finally sigh with relief.  That was a crazy day! And I get to do it all over again in the fall 🙂

Taking a bit of a breather today I’m going to ask what your thoughts are on ebook sizes and prices?  Back in the day a novella or shorts would have rarely gotten the time of day.  But I love “test-driving” a new author on a short or novella.  They tend to be .99-$3.99, which won’t break the bank.  And if I don’t like the writing then I haven’t thrown away a ton of money.

Also, I’m over at author Tenaya Jayne’s today doing an interview. Stop by if you have time!  http://tenayajayne.com/?p=343

I love how low the price is for your ebook!!! I am going to buy it when I go home tonight and have a moment to breathe. 🙂
Miss you, love you, and I am so proud of you!!! 🙂

  2. Hey- great interview! I tried to leave a comment on the interview page, but wordpress was being difficult. 🙂

  3. I have some kind of radical ideas about ebook pricing. But instead of writing a dissertation, I’ll give you three primary sources.

    The Long Tail

This is a critical concept to understand if you’re in the business of selling electronic goods. It’s not a short read, but vital vital vital. It’s important to understand, because it will come up, and you’ll the full context under your belt.

    The Domino Project
This is a fascinating project run by Seth Godin, one of the best marketing minds of our day. And what’s more, the man is a prolific, successful author, so he knows that of which he speaks.
I love the ideas in this one, especially for new authors:

And this one has some great thoughts on pricing, as well.

I would definitely subscribe to Seth’s blog and the Domino Project if I were you. (I’m not you, and I still do. lol) It’s vital info for the industry you’ve chosen, and his ideas work. That’s why he’s so darn successful. 😉

    Have a great weekend!

Hey Shelley, check with Rebecca Z about what price points for e-books sells best. She went to a talk about it at RWA12 where they had tracked sales for different books and showed which sold most copies and which made most money.
